I’ve been working on a project called 7 places over the last couple months. The piece revolves around a series of places, which in turn revolve around a series of pamphlets. Drawing a connection between narrative, place and memory, each pamphlet highlights a place I spent a significant amount of time at while growing up in Denver. inside each folded-over 8.5 x 11 inch sheet of paper is a segmented piece of narrative that is semi autobiographical. Those of you who know me may find these particularly funny. My hope however, is that people who don’t know me, and haven’t read this blog post will encounter my pamphlets in normal daily life (Like when their rifling through the flier table at Twist n’ Shout).
Each pamphlet is like a treasure map, latitude and longitude coordinates are provided along with a graphic aerial map of the immediate area where both the cover photo was taken, and the described event takes, took or will take place. Starting Saturday, November 6 these pamphlets are going to be distributed around Denver in coffee shops, record stores, book stores art galleries and really wherever else I can get to/think of.
if you have a place in mind that you think would be good to leave some of my pamphlets, please let me know.
Below are some photos of the pamphlets and some original photos from the places. Don’t bother asking me where they were taken, I’m not telling.
